Oyster/Clam Advisory Committee Meeting

Colonial Beach, VA — The Potomac River Oyster/Clam Advisory Committee, which is comprised of private citizens and industry representatives, will meet at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 15, 2015 in the John T. Parran Hearing Room of the PRFC building, Colonial Beach, Virginia.

Items on the agenda will include, but may not be limited to: an oyster harvest report, a recap of the September 10th Commission meeting, updates on the Oyster Management Reserve Program, the Rotational Natural Oyster Harvest Plan, and Jones Shore oyster bar. There will be discussions on oyster leasing in the Potomac River, allowing a “helper” in the OMR program and in the pubic oyster fishery. There will be a preview of the upcoming December 4th Commission meeting and the announcement of the upcoming advisory committee vacancies.

Any recommendations developed by this committee will be forwarded to the Potomac River Fisheries Commission for consideration prior to implementation. The next Commission meeting is scheduled for December 4, 2015.

The Potomac River Fisheries Commission coordinates regulations with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR), the Virginia Marine Resources Commission (VMRC) and the Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, (DGIF) and with the other Atlantic coastal states through the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC).
